It’s that time of the week again, a round-up of a couple of the yummy looking recipes that have caught our eye in the Blogosphere this week. Hopefully we've got something for every mood and palate! Have you made any of these recipes? If so, let us know what you think below!
Even converts to clean eating have comfort food cravings. Here at The Holist, it’s a steaming big bowl of cheesy pasta that we dream about when we’re tired and stressed. But as we’ve said before, the beauty of subscribing to this lifestyle is that there is no deprivation involved! With a couple of clever tweaks you can transform even the worst junk foods into healthy alternatives! While this isn’t a new recipe, we came across it this week and knew we needed to make it immediately! While it’s never going to exactly match the cheese, cream and butter laden original, it was absolutely delicious and hit the craving spot, totally guilt free! Angela also has a few other alternatives on her blog and there are a multitude of other recipes out there, including this delicious sounding option from This Rawsome Vegan Life. We improvised a bit as to what we had on hand, so also used Carrot alongside the Butternut Squash and mixed some Peas and fresh Basil into the Rice Pasta. For the topping, instead of breadcrumbs we used some leftover almond meal (leftover from our weekly batch of almond milk) mixed in with some Nutritional Yeast, Italian Herbs, Himalayan Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper.
We meant it when we said there is a healthy take on pretty much any junk food you can think of, but even we were taken aback at the amazing Sara B’s creativity when it comes to these innovative take on the humble Bounty. We’ve said it before, but we find this site so inspirational for it's gorgeous food, stunning photography and sound nutrition advice and we are in awe of Sarah B, given that she’s just written a cookbook AND had a baby, a real life superwoman!
We love Moroccan flavours and spices and we were really intrigued by this take on the traditional Moroccan dish and think it could be a perfect dish to make the most of all the amazing summer veggies in season at the moment. Time to dig out that Tagine you bought on that Moroccan holiday years ago but relegated to the back of the cupboard!
Playing with different cuisines and flavours is so important to keep your meals interesting and inspiring. We are huge fans of Asian flavours and this scrummy meal looks like the perfect weeknight meal and the perfect excuse to sneak in lots of raw veggies!
Having only recently really started to really appreciate Pumpkin in all its glory, we are definitely looking forward to trying this scrummy sounding breakfast recipe soon! Playing around with different gluten-free super grains in your porridge can be a great way to learn how to use them and fuel up for the day!
When you hear the word porridge you automatically think of a sweet breakfast dish right? Well in many parts of the world such as Asia and Africa, porridge is eaten as a savoury main course. Once you get your head around it (think of it like a heartier soup!), savoury porridge can be a great go-to option allowing you to pack some gluten-free super grains into your diet. We also think that with a couple of tweaks this gorgeous recipe could also be a great savoury porridge!
