We’ve been become a little dip obsessed recently, they’re so quick to whip up and provide the perfect snack for when you get home and are so starving you can’t think straight. They work hastily smeared on some homemade crackers or crisp breads (this is one of our fave recipes) or piled on top of some crudités. We love the flavour and colour of this beauty, although make sure to sub the breadcrumbs if you’re avoiding gluten.

3. COOKIE + KATE’S COCONUT BACON

Bacon seems to hold an almost mythical position in the British consciousness. In case you missed last week’s Horizon programme on meat (it’s on iPlayer - catch it here while you can!) bacon is pretty much as bad as it gets - in fact the programme claims if you ate two rashers of bacon daily for 40 years it would take an hour a day off your life. So you need to say bye-bye to the beloved bacon. I was initially sceptical about vegan replacements, take Nutritional Yeast - everything about it used to freak us out but now we’re total converts and use it all the time! The first time we came across Coconut Bacon was on our recent trip to Bali - intrigued we tried some and have to confess it wasn’t bad! It’s obviously never going to replace a proper hungover bacon butty, but as an everyday alternative to add to dishes it’s a pretty good option. Set your scepticism aside and give it a go this weekend.

It doesn’t matter how old we get, as the end of August looms, we still get that ‘back to school’ feeling, like it’s time to really buckle down and get back to reality! Apparently we’re not the only ones! The fabulous Anglea Liddon has rounded-up 21 of her best snack recipes for the back to school season so you’ve got no excuses for reaching for that Dairy Milk when 4pm rolls around.

Ok so while we know it’s actually still technically summer here - it certainly feels like winter at the moment. We don’t know about you but our bodies really crave different foods depending on the weather so this is perfect and bursting with super greens - in case you hadn’t noticed yet, Brussels are totally the new Kale.
